Developed by baseball coach, Fred Willett, because he kept noticing that most hitters, even those with fast hands, had a slow bat. They were hitting too many pop-ups, hitting to the opposite field too often, hitting weak ground balls, and had a difficult time hitting pitches that were inside and up in the strike zone.
